IPA Adriatic Cross-border Programme 2007-2013
IPA Adriatic CBC Programme 2007-2013 includes regions at the NUTS III level and, in case of non-corresponding classification, adequate areas along land and coast line of the countries member of EU (Italy, Slovenia, Greece) and candidate countries (Croatia) or countries potential candidates (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia).
The eligible area in the Republic of Croatia is the area within seven counties: Dubrovačko-neretvanska County, Istarska County, Ličko-senjska County, Primorsko-goranska County, Splitsko-dalmatinska County, Šibensko-kninska County and Zadarska County, while Karlovačka County is associated area.
The structure of the Programme is divided according to 4 programme priorities:
- Economic, Social and Institutional Cooperation
- Natural and Cultural Heritage and Risk Prevention
- Accessibility and Network
- Technical Assistance
About the Project
Project „MedPaths“ is financed under European Union through the IPA Adriatic CBC programme. The Lead Partner is Public Institution RERA S.D. for coordination and development of Split Dalmatia County. Apart from Lead partner, other project partners involved in the implementation of the activities are as follows: Union of the municipalities Basso Biferno (Italy); Union of the municipalities Sinello (Italy); Split Dalmatia County; Town of Omiš; Town of Sinj; Town of Vrlika; Municipality of Šestanovac; Municipality of Trilj; Municipality of Zadvarje; Municipality of Dugi Rat.
The Associate institutions in the project are: Public Institution for the Protected Natural Values Management in the County of Split Dalmatia, Ministry of Culture, Conservation Department in Split, Tourist Board of Town of Sinj, Tourist Board of Town of Trilj, Tourist Board if Town of Omiš.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The overall objective of the project is to offer the strategy of protection and revitalisation of the hinterland areas which includes several aspects (cultural and natural resources) and connects the experiences from Croatia and Italy regarding the existence of the sustainable models in natural and cultural heritage management.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
Activities in the project which will be implemented in the area of Split Dalmatia County and in the area of Italian regions are as follows:
Infrastructure works:
- Settlement of trekking, cycling and hiking paths along the Cetina River in order to improve the tourist offer of the area, settlement of the signalisation and settlement of small belvederes
- Settlement of the part of fortress Klis
- Settlement of trekking, cycling and hiking paths in the area of Italian regions involved in the project implementation (Basso Biferno and Sinello)
- Settlement of the so called interpretative centre in one of the historical fortresses in the area of Italian regions involved in the project implementation (Basso Biferno and Sinello)
Other activities:
- Unification of the tourist offer of the area (networking of the producers of the traditional gastronomy products, accommodation facilities etc.)
- Setting up of 6 project info points (Split, Vrlika, Šestanovac, Trilj, Dugi Rat, Zadvarje)
- Collection of data regarding the tourist offer of the area including the natural and cultural heritage, digitalisation of data and uploading the data at info-portals
- Organisation of seminars for the entrepreneurs in the tourist sector and other stakeholders in the tourist sector
